A New Chapter for Mid-States
Over the last four decades, Mid-States Recycling & Refining has established a reputation rooted in core values: precision, transparency, and trusted refining. From careful lot processing to disciplined trading and honest settlement, our commitment to doing things the right way has been a constant.
As the precious metals industry continues to evolve, so will we.
We’re proud to announce that Brian Brown has joined the company as Precious Metals Trader and Marketing Manager. As a seasoned professional with experience in both digital marketing and trading strategy, his dual role represents our next generation of leadership.
Brian joins Mid-States at a time when both precious metals and digital landscapes are moving faster than ever. Volatility, global supply pressures, and rapid shifts in online visibility all require a company that can move with precision and agility. Now, Mid-States is positioned to meet these challenges head-on.
Brian’s Role at Mid-States
Precious Metals Trader
As a Precious Metals Trader, Brian manages lot portfolios and coordinates refining schedules for maximum operational efficiency. His work ensures that material moves efficiently through the refining process and that clients benefit from disciplined market execution.
Brian oversees the buying and selling of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium lots. By monitoring price changes and making informed trading decisions, he helps ensure Mid-States remains financially strong and well-positioned for unpredictable markets.
He’s also strengthening relationships with our key stakeholders of pawnbrokers, industrial suppliers, and high-volume bullion dealers. These connections are foundational to Mid-States’ long-standing success and will remain central to its future growth.
Marketing and Digital Growth Leader
Alongside his trading responsibilities, Brian brings over six years of digital marketing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experience to Mid-States.
Before joining the company, he served as Senior SEO Strategist at numerous nationally recognized digital marketing agencies. While there, he managed e-commerce and lead-generation clients across a range of industries. He designed omni-channel campaigns that aligned SEO, paid search, and paid social efforts with revenue-driven company goals.
Brian worked with industrial clients such as FMH Conveyors, developing data-driven strategies to reach a larger audience, increase sales leads, and accelerate revenue growth. That experience is highly relevant to Mid-States’ B2B audience of jewelers, refiners, pawnbrokers, and manufacturers.
He brings structured analytics, performance tracking, and disciplined digital execution to an industry that has traditionally relied more heavily on relationships than data visibility – blending both to create long-term strength.
Education and Foundation
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Informatics from the Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. He also has a business minor from the Kelley School of Business.
His educational background reflects a blend of technical systems thinking and business acumen – a combination that supports key skills we need at Mid-States:
- An analytical mindset
- Systems-driven problem solving
- Business-oriented leadership
This foundation informs both his trading discipline and his marketing strategy, ensuring that growth objectives remain structured, measurable, and aligned with company objectives.
How This Background Translates to Brian’s New Role
Brian isn’t just “marketing”. He’s directly involved in trading strategy, inventory management, and client profitability – reinforcing his credibility in the refining space.
Why This Matters for Mid-States Customers
Brian’s addition strengthens the Mid-States team in ways that directly benefit clients.
For Refining:
- Smarter trading strategies backed by data
- Stronger hedging practices to navigate volatility
- Efficient lot scheduling and management
- Transparent communication
His involvement at the trading level ensures that clients work with a team that understands both operational refining and broader market forces.
Digital Engagement Benefits:
- Stronger SEO visibility to reach more refiners, pawnbrokers, jewelers, and industrial suppliers
- Improved online tools and resources
- Clearer communication surrounding market trends and refining
As digital competition increases across every industry, Mid-States is proactively strengthening its online presence to better serve both long-standing partners and new clients.
Legacy Meets Modernization
Our company was built on decades of trust and hands-on leadership under Ellis, Ben, and Jack Brown; a legacy that remains the foundation of Mid-States. Brian represents continuity, but also innovation.
The next phase of Mid-States blends:
- Traditional refining expertise
- Advanced trading strategy
- Digital market sophistication
- Data-driven decision making
As Brian explains:

This balance – honoring proven practices while embracing modern strategy – positions Mid-States for long-term strength.
